Not-for-profit legal service.  Operating in Cairns for the North Queensland region, as part of a national parent body.

Project Scope

We were asked to design a simple web site to mesh with the national web based image for the EDO. We assisted the local office to apply for a Gambing Benefit Fund grant. This resulted in RuttenTech undertaking the graphic design and web site structure design for an upgraded site.  In addition we consistantly provide support for the office hardware and network.

Project Overview

The RuttenTech Team first started working with the EDO North Queensland to develop a simple web site to add to the national network of EDO web sites. They required a look and feel to the local site that matched with the other 8 sites, each developed independently. As a result we worked creatively within the constraints of style, structure and timeframe that was set nationally. In this way, the Cairns office of the EDO began their journey towards developing their web presence.

As the EDO North Queensland built their services it became apparent that a higher profile web site would assist their organisation.  The EDO and RuttenTech collaborated in the preparation of a successful application to the Gambling Benefit Fund, specifically for the development of a new web site.

The graphic design for the site used images from local enviromental photographers to increase the visual elements of the site.  The RuttenTech team consulted closely with the EDO to finalise the structure and functionality. The new site included a thank you page for contributors, community fact sheets and frequent uploading of new information.

In addition to web development, our team supports the computer hardware that the EDO Cairns office uses. They have 3 laptop and 2 desktop computers that are frequently accessed by untrained volunteers.  This required simplified access to the systems and an especially user friendly set-up.  We managed to find a balance between security and ease-of-use by reducing the log-in requirements and increasing the server virus and spyware protections.
