Client Profile:  CAFNEC is a not for profit environmental advocacy and education organisation, based in Cairns and servicing the far north of Queensland.

Project Services:  The RuttenTech team were approached to build a new web-site to replace an existing site developed by a series of volunteers.  This included the hosting of the site and provision of an e-mail server.

Service Date:  2003 to present

CAFNEC had historically relied on volunteers to develop and host their web-site.  This suited their small IT budget but was limited in reliability and did not have a consistent "look".  RuttenTech was approached to design a new site, provide on-going support to the site and provide internet hosting and e-mail services.  We needed to be flexible so that CAFNEC could get a site that worked for them while matching their extremely limited budget.  Our solution was to:

• - Train CAFNEC staff so they could convert existing documents into web content;
• - Use existing imagery donated by local photographers;
• - Agree site structure early in the process so big changes were not require during development;
• - Simplified the site structure to manage large amounts of information efficiently;
• - Respond to how the CAFNEC committee makes decisions; and
  
• - Provide some elements of the work for free.
  

We continue to support CAFNEC by providing regular updates to the web site to follow the latest campaign.
